Peak House
Malvern
Recently completed, Malvern Peak House is an assemblage of custom bricks embodying ideas of solidity, timelessness and aspiration for a family to live and work . Using a brick covenant constraint as an opportunity for creativity, the ‘brick’ developed to be more sculptural than traditional.
From the exterior the brick forms a pointed mark into the environment. Expansive uninterrupted facades allow the repeated units to mesh, holding in private areas at first floor level.
The brick itself can at times be seen ‘in the round’ as the vertical spacings open up to reveal filtered views both into and from building. Internally, an inverted relief gives space, light and shadow between the brick and the glazing line.
Curved courtyards and building lines celebrate the landscape and significant elm tree onsite, with expansive ground level glazing connecting many of the spaces to emphasize the sculpture of the house.
